Founded in 1931 by Shri Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi & named after him ; he was a renowned industrialist and philanthropist, who co-established the Modi Group of companies and the industrial city of Modinagar in 1933, A sugar mill in Modinagar marked the beginning of the Modi Group conglomerate, which later diversified into varied fields; established schools and colleges in Modinagar; contributed a lot in the field of higher education; awarded the Padma Bhushan by Government of India in 1968 (Prior to its renaming in 1945, Modinagar was known as Begumabad.)

Modinagar is located between Ghaziabad and Meerut. It is about 40 km. in North direction (National Highway 58) from Delhi. It has the easy approach by bus and train. The Bus stand and Railway station are located closely. You can find 24 hours bus service for Modinagar from Delhi or Meerut. Modinagar is about 45 Km. from Capital of Nation (India). It has been and continues to be an important industrial and educational center. Numerous institutions of higher learning are located here.
